5 Daily Health Habits

It is so easy to get out of your routine or create one.  Whether or not my day goes as I wanted, I find these 5 healthy habits essential in order to keep me feeling good, balanced and happy. They help to add some structure to my day and boost my energy and mood. I do them everyday, they are a part of my life and I believe they can help you if you look for something healthy to add to your life, be it both for your body and your mind.

  • Hot Lemon Water

Every morning, before my breakfast, I need to have a warm lemon water. This ritual provides great health benefits. It helps to wake up your body, metabolism, balance ph levels and boost digestion. It gets you ready for the day. More and more it is a ritual for me, I don’t even need to think about it, I feel strange if I don’t do it.

  • Breakfast

It might be obvious for some, but many people rush in the morning, don’t feel hungry or just don’t have the habit of having a breakfast. Just like the lemon water, it should be part of your ritual. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, it will kick start your metabolism, give you energy until the next meal and help you prevent eating more than necessary and possibly unhealthy during lunchtime. If you are not used to it or don’t feel hungry, start with smaller portions and add a bit every day and week. All you need to do is plan. You can prepare some overnight oats the night before to safe time, have a smoothie, or if you have those 5 minutes to prepare the meal, have some plant based version of a toast, porridge or pancakes. Believe us, you will not regret it and your body will thank you.

  • Smile

This might sound silly, but honestly, it does wonders. Try to put a smile on your face even though you might not feel like it. Seeing a person who smiles evokes positive feelings, just think about it, remember the time when someone smiles at you, you smile back or even just good and positive feelings appear. So next time you pass by somebody, be it a friend or a stranger, smile, it will boost your mood and you will make other people feel better.

  • Drink

Drink, and I don’t mean an alcohol. Water, tea, just keep hydrated. Water is essential for our bodies, for circulation, digestion, clear skin, mind and energy. So, make it your goal, aim for 1.5-2.5l a day. Just take a bottle of water with you, drink and refill it throughout the day. I literally cannot step out the door without a bottle of water, if I do, I feel nervous, it is so ridiculous. Even when visiting friends, I always have my bottle with me and they make fun of me that they do have some water for me. Well, I am another level of crazy I guess, I just love my water 😀 But seriously, keep hydrated. No suggary drinks, they will just make your mood, energy and sugar level crazy, water is your friend.

  • “Me” time

Every day, find your “me” time. You might want to be alone, or not, just do what you like. Watch a tv show, read a magazine or a book, have a tea, call your friends and family, go to a restaurant, move your body and so on, the possibilities are endless. Do any ritual that makes you happy. Pause for a second, think, and do whatever you want, just unwind, breathe, and enjoy yourself. At the end of the day, you live with “yourself” and the inner you needs to be happy and content.
